Job Application Follow-Up
No response after applying doesn't necessarily mean no. A well-timed, brief follow-up can genuinely move your application back to the top of the pile, if you get the timing and tone right.
When to Follow Up
Wait 1-2 weeks after submitting before following up, unless the job posting stated a specific timeline for responses, in which case wait until that has passed. Following up sooner than a week generally reads as impatient rather than proactive.
Follow-Up Email Template
Keep it brief, restate your interest, and make it easy to respond.

- "Dear [Hiring Manager's Name],"
- "I applied for the [Job Title] position on [date] and wanted to follow up to confirm you received my application. I remain very interested in the role and [Company], and I'm happy to provide any additional information that would help with your decision."

If You Still Don't Hear Back
One follow-up is normal and expected. A second follow-up, if you send one at all, should come at least another 1-2 weeks later and be even shorter. Beyond that, treat the silence as your answer and redirect your energy to other applications rather than repeatedly following up.
